Event Overview
With the continuous expansion of the sustainable finance market, the demand for green investment capacity building has become increasingly urgent, especially in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies (EMDEs). This not only involves the exchange and sharing of regional experiences but also includes providing policy and knowledge support to help policymakers, regulatory authorities, and capital market stakeholders systematically enhance their professional capabilities and practical skills in green finance and sustainable investment.
Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are the cornerstone of the global economy, accounting for approximately 90% of total enterprises worldwide and contributing nearly 70% of employment and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Therefore, as a key link in global and domestic supply chains, the green and low-carbon transition of SMEs is not only crucial for achieving net-zero emission goals but also helps promote the inclusiveness and sustainability of economic growth.
Against this backdrop, strengthening the construction of financial support mechanisms for SMEs' transition—including transition finance, supply chain finance, and technology-driven innovative financing tools—has become a key focus of policy and market attention. These mechanisms will not only help drive the low-carbon transition of SMEs but also further enhance their resilience and integration capabilities in the global value chain.
To this end, the Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Capacity Building Alliance for Sustainable Investment (CASI), Huzhou Green Finance Development Service Center, and Huzhou Green Finance and Sustainable Development Research Institute (HZGF) will co-host a capacity-building event themed "Sustainable Finance Empowering SMEs' Green Transition" in Huzhou on December 4. Customized thematic discussions will be conducted to address the needs of various stakeholders.
