In August 2005, during Xi Jinping’s inspection of Anji County in Huzhou, then secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, proposed the scientific concept that " Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." Guided by this vision, Huzhou embarked on a path of green development. In June 2017, Huzhou was designated as a pilot zone for green financial reform and innovation. Since then, the city has introduced numerous supportive green finance policies, enhanced its local green finance standards, and pioneered innovative financial services and tools, effectively advancing high-quality green development. Over the past two decades, Huzhou has emerged as a leader in green finance in China, creating what is now widely known as the "Huzhou experience".
To share Huzhou’s green finance development experience and help regions and practitioners worldwide learn from its advanced practices, the Huzhou Green Finance Institute(HZGF) has launched a dedicated section titled "Greening Huzhou: From Finance to the Future." This platform highlights Huzhou's forward-looking strategies, practical case studies, and the latest developments over the past 20 years, adopting both top-down and bottom-up development approaches.
